Inspire Youth

Support a "Once in a lifetime" sailing opportunity:

Make a lasting difference in a young person's life. You can sponsor a young sailor (with a tax-deductible contribution) to have the unforgettable experience of sailing with Bruce Schwab on OceanPlanet. Contact us for different events and schedule possibilities.

Here is a report by young sailor Colin Santangelo, who joined the crew on OceanPlanet for the Shipyard Cup in Boothbay, Maine:

"Sailing is my greatest passion. Even though, I learned just three summers ago, it drew me in right away. While I am ecstatic to have something to be so passionate about and to work so hard at, I also feel a little behind the curve. Thus, I always look for opportunities to learn more about the sport and hobby of sailing.

Sailing with Bruce Schwab was one of those opportunities and being able to do it really meant a lot to me. For this wonderful experience, I really must thank most of all Bill Replogle, who was generous to donate his own money to allow a young sailor to live a dream and sail with a legend. For a young sailor such as I, few things provide a greater learning experience or more great memories than being able to sail on such a unique boat with someone else who truly loves the sport. I urge all who love sailing to sponsor young sailors themselves, in order to open more people to this wonderful pastime."

Inspire a classroom or entire school:

You or your business can also sponsor Bruce to present his inspirational multimedia show at the school of your choice.

Teacher Clinton Chase reviews Bruce's presentation at his school:

"Experience a multimedia presentation by American sailor Bruce Schwab and you will feel like...you've sailed on his boat OceanPlanet, surfed at breakneck speed in the Southern Ocean, pounded into confused seas in the Bay of Biscay, sailed through the fog over the finish line of the grueling non-stop, single-handed, unassisted ocean sailboat race called the Vendee Globe, been greeted by a swarm of French schoolchildren chanting "We love Bruce!", and, moreover, you feel like you can do anything in this life, on our own "ocean planet"

Bruce Schwab came to my school, a middle-high school in Poland, Maine, where NASCAR is the thing and sailboats are "way down there on the coast". The students walked into the theatre, with a large screen, a model of OceanPlanet and other artifacts, and banners galore and they knew this wasn't a run-of-the-mill presentation. The kids were enthralled by Bruce's video footage, the photos capturing a fascinating story and Bruce's natural, conversational way of telling the story. We ran out of flyers to be autographed.

Kids talked about the "guy who sailed around the world" for days. And the teacher's imaginations went wild about their next adventure of that dream that they put on the back burner. Bruce wowed us all.

Whether you are little kid, big kid, or an adult wishing you could just be a kid again, Bruce will show you how he did what no other American has ever done - be the first to complete the Vendee Globe around-the-world race. But it doesn't have to be about sailing fast. What does it take to tackle a dream, see it through, and solve problems? What do you do in the face of adversity? How do you carry on when others shake their heads? How do you complete a dream gracefully? Bruce has much to show you through his magnificent example and a fabulous multimedia presentation. In a nutshell, he will show that IT IS POSSIBLE."
